As a teacher, my grandmother, Nina Leonidovna Dyadkina, always strived for new knowledge and its systematization. A lot of books about the cuisine of the peoples from around the world and encyclopedias about mushrooms and wild fruits adorned our bookshelves. And, of course, a large card catalog of recipes. Here is only a small part collected for more than half a century.
The card catalog is interesting because if we look through these recipes, we will understand how the country lived in different periods. If you need to set the New Year’s table with dishes made of black bread, to prepare twenty-eight dishes of green peas, you can ask here. I wonder how she formalized it. Blank index card slips, thick cardboard, newspaper clippings. Apple dishes. First courses. Pasta. Even vegan dishes. Then they were called, naturally: for religious fasting. There are even recipes for health and beauty.
